Home > Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Adventure runs June 23 through September 2, and is open to teens in rising grades 7 and 12 to read for fun over the summer! This year’s theme is “Reading by Design.” To participate visit a branch beginning June 23 or register online here!

Teens have to read five books of their choice, including free eBooks, eAudio books, or books on CD. Teens can track their reading online by registering for a Summer Reading Adventure book log here, or with a reading log from any Fairfax County Public Library Branch. For more information about how to register click here.

Teens who finish reading the required number of books by September 2 win a coupon book with a variety of free prizes and discounts. In addition, teen finishers will be entered in a drawing for a gift card prize!

Teens can also enter into the Teen Cover Art Contest from June 23-August 5, for students in rising grades 7-12, or the For Love of Country 9th Annual Essay and Poetry Contest for students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, which ends on September 2. Check out the website, for more details!
